18+ AI Chat: An Honest Guide to Adult AI Chatbots

We built Eromantic, an adults-only AI companion app, so take this guide as what it is: written by people who make one of the products in it. We still wrote it to be the page we wish existed when we started. It covers what 18+ AI chat actually is, what separates a good adult chatbot from a bad one, the privacy questions to ask before you type anything personal, and a straight comparison with the apps you are probably also looking at, including the places where they beat us.

How we tested

Eromantic is made by our team, so read this section knowing that we have a stake in the result. That's why we stick to things you can check yourself: each claim below is something you can see in the app with your own account. Here's what we checked on Eromantic in October 2026:

• Memory you can see and edit. Each companion keeps a list of what she knows about you. We opened it, edited a fact, pinned one and deleted one. The next replies used the corrected version.
• The same face in every photo. Photos in chat are generated from the companion's own profile look. We asked for photos in several different scenes and compared them with her profile picture.
• Live voice calls. We started a call from the chat and talked in real time. We also played normal replies aloud in her voice.
• Short video. We turned a photo from the conversation into a short video of the same moment.
• The age check. First-time visitors see an 18+ confirmation before entering, and sign-up asks you to confirm you are 18 or older. This is self-declared: we don't ask for ID. All companions are fictional adults aged 21 or older.

• No charge for failed generations. If a photo or video fails on our side, the credits go back to your balance automatically and the chat tells you so.
• Cancelling. "Cancel Subscription" sits in your account settings. Your membership runs to the end of the period you already paid for, and nothing more is charged. Photos you unlocked in chat stay viewable after you cancel.
• Deleting your account. "Delete account" is also in your account settings. Your account is deactivated straight away and scheduled for permanent deletion, with no support ticket needed.

Where we come out ahead

Going by each competitor's own pages:

• vs Candy.ai:
  • Our free messages reset every day. Candy's free allowance is a one-time handful.
  • You can read and edit what your companion remembers. Resetting a Candy chat clears its memory.
  • A failed generation costs you nothing. Candy documents no make-good.
  • You can delete your account yourself. Candy's privacy policy handles erasure as a request.
• vs SpicyChat:
  • Photos, short video and live voice calls all happen in the same conversation. SpicyChat restricts pictures to selected paid tiers, and we couldn't find video generation or voice calls.
  • You get a memory list you can read and correct, not just a context window.
• vs OurDream.ai:
  • You get daily free messages. OurDream has no free coins.
  • Chat photos you unlocked stay viewable after you cancel. OurDream says images and videos are blurred once a subscription ends.

Where they come out ahead

• Candy has more companions and languages, and more video formats.
• SpicyChat has a much larger community character library and more generous free text.
• OurDream makes longer videos.
• OurDream also uses a third-party age-assurance check where the law requires one. Our check is self-declared.

What is 18+ AI chat?

18+ AI chat (also called adult AI chat, NSFW AI chat or an 18+ AI chatbot) is a conversation with an AI character that is allowed to go where mainstream assistants won't: flirting, romance, sexual roleplay and frank talk about desire. Behind it is a large language model, the same kind of technology as a general chatbot, running with rules written for adults instead of rules written for everyone.

Three things make it different from asking ChatGPT or Character.AI:

1. The character stays in role. A general assistant breaks off, changes the subject or lectures you. An adult chatbot follows your lead within the platform's rules.
2. It is built around one ongoing relationship. Good apps keep a memory of who you are and what has happened between you, so tonight's chat continues last night's rather than starting over.
3. It is more than text. In 2026 the better apps add photos, voice and short video of the same character, generated on request inside the conversation.

"18+" refers to you, the user. Every legitimate service requires you to be an adult (18, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher). On Eromantic, every companion is also a fictional adult, aged 21 or older.

What "uncensored" actually means

No hosted adult chat is literally without rules, and a site that says otherwise is the one to avoid. "Uncensored" in this category means the character will engage with adult and sexual themes between consenting adults without refusing or moralising. Every reputable platform, including ours, still prohibits:

• anything involving minors or characters who appear to be minors
• non-consensual content and exploitation
• deepfakes or sexual content about real, identifiable people
• bestiality, and anything else illegal

That list is a good sign when you find it written down. A platform that won't publish what it bans is a platform that hasn't thought about it, which says something about how it treats your data as well.

How to choose an 18+ AI chatbot: 7 things that matter

Most "best NSFW AI chat" lists rank apps by price. Price is easy to compare and tells you little about whether you'll still be using the app next month. These are the things that do.

1. Memory you can see and fix

The single biggest difference between a companion and a slot machine is memory. Ask: does she remember your name, your job and the joke from last week? Can you see what she remembers and correct it when she gets something wrong? On Eromantic each companion keeps a memory list you can read and edit. On some apps, resetting or deleting a chat wipes that chat's memory, and on others memory is a rolling window that quietly drops older details.

2. A face that stays the same

If the app sends pictures, the person in photo ten should be recognisably the person in photo one. Many apps generate each image from scratch, so the "same" character changes face, body and age from picture to picture. Eromantic generates from the companion's profile, so she looks like herself every time.

3. Media inside the conversation, not in a separate tool

Asking for a photo, a voice reply or a short clip should happen in the chat, in context, the way you'd ask a person. Some services make you leave the conversation for a separate image generator that knows nothing about what you were talking about.

4. A free tier that lets you judge the conversation

You should be able to judge the writing before paying. Watch for free tiers that are a one-time taste (a handful of messages in total) rather than an allowance that resets. Eromantic gives free accounts 10 messages a day, refilled every day, and the allowance grows by one message for each day in a row you come back, up to 50. 5. What happens when something fails

Image and video generation fails sometimes. Find out whether you are charged for a failed result. On Eromantic you are not, and the message tells you so.

6. What happens when you cancel

Some services blur every image and video you made once your subscription ends. On Eromantic, photos you unlocked in chat stay viewable after you cancel.

7. Who runs it

Look for a named company, a physical address, a support email and published terms. Anonymous operators are the ones that disappear, change billing without notice or leak data. Eromantic is operated by Eros Media LLC in Miami, Florida, and you can reach support at support@eromantic.ai.

Safety and privacy: what to check before you type anything personal

Adult chat is the most sensitive data most people will ever give an app. In 2024 a hack of the companion site Muah.ai exposed users' prompts alongside their email addresses, and it was a reminder that "private" is a policy, not a feeling. Before you commit to any service:

• Read the privacy policy's sections on training and sharing. Find out whether your conversations are used to train models and whether anything is shared with third parties.
• Use an email you don't use for work. It costs nothing and separates the account from the rest of your life.
• Don't share identifying details such as your full name, address, employer or photos of real people. A good companion doesn't need them.
• Check how billing appears. Know which company name appears on your statement before you pay. You manage or cancel your membership from your account settings.
• Check that you can delete your account. On Eromantic you can delete your account yourself from your account settings.
• Prefer platforms with published content rules and real age requirements. They are the ones taking legal responsibility seriously.

Candy.ai is the biggest name in the category and polished at a lot of things. Candy offers more companions in far more languages (around 270 across 13 languages), and more video formats. That is their clearest advantage. Where we win: our free messages reset daily, while Candy's free allowance is a one-time handful. If you came from Character.AI, you already know the reason you're here. Character.AI doesn't allow adult conversation and says that won't change, and its help centre warns that asking for the filter to be removed can get an account banned. Getting a better conversation out of any adult AI chatbot

These work on every platform, not only ours.

1. Open with a scene, not a command. "We've just got back from the bar and you're pretending you're not annoyed I was late" gives the model far more to work with than "be flirty."
2. Tell it what you like, once. A sentence about tone, pace and boundaries at the start saves a lot of steering later. On Eromantic she remembers it.
3. Correct, don't restart. If she gets a detail wrong, fix it in the memory list or tell her. Starting over throws away the history that makes a companion feel like someone.
4. Ask for media in context. "Send me a photo of what you're wearing tonight" produces something that fits the conversation. A request out of nowhere produces something generic.
5. Keep real people out of it. Fiction about fictional adults is the point. Real names, real faces and real partners are off limits on any reputable service.

Yes, for adults, in most countries. Chatting with a fictional adult AI character is legal for users over 18 (or the local age of majority). What is illegal everywhere is content involving minors, and reputable platforms ban it along with non-consensual content and deepfakes of real people. Check your local laws if you are unsure.
